Adam Loraine has spent his career fighting for the people of San Mateo
• Oversaw the completion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade (https://cleanwaterprogramsanmateo.org/wwtp/)—(https://cleanwaterprogramsanmateo.org/wwtp/) the largest infrastructure project in the City’s history
• Advanced a Community Flood & Storm Protection Initiative,(https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/2288/Community-Flood-Storm-Protection-Initiat) (https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/2288/Community-Flood-Storm-Protection-Initiat)which now provides about $4 million a year to directly maintain and improve local stormwater infrastructure
• Ushered in infrastructure projects that benefited the community such as the repaving of 19 miles of streets in San Mateo through the Smooth Streets Program (https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/3798/Smooth-Streets-Program)and renovations of Central Park and East Hillsdale Park
• Helped Council reach consensus support for San Mateo’s General Plan Update 2040 (https://strivesanmateo.org/general-plan-2040/)and the successful ballot Measure T, leading to several new development applications planning hundreds of new affordable homes
• Supported a new city Emergency Rental Assistance Program (https://www.samcar.org/posts/city-of-san-mateo-rental-assistance-program/#:~:text=Qualifying%20San%20Mateo%20households%20can%20apply%20for,their%20name%20(if%20applying%20for%20utility%20assistance))helping nearly 40 families avoid losing their homes due to temporary financial hardship
• Adopted with Council the city’s Housing Element 2023 - 2031,(https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/4478/Housing-Element-2023-2031) a plan certified by the state of California to accommodate at least 7,015 new homes over eight years and ensure housing can be provided for all residents and community members
• Approved with Council a solar carport project with Peninsula Clean Energy at Beresford Park, powering Beresford Recreation Center with renewable energy at no upfront cost and projecting to save $450,000 in energy rates
• Supported a new city ordinance that prohibits the use of gas-powered leaf blowers,(https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/4544/Electric-Leaf-Blower-Rebate) helping to improve air quality and prevent noise pollution
• Championed the city’s new Sustainable Building Strategy,(https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/4730/Electrify-San-Mateo) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from existing building energy use and facilitate healthier air in living spaces for San Mateans
• Supported Measure CC,(https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/DocumentCenter/View/88971/Measure-CC-Fact-Sheet?bidId=) which has brought in over $12 million since its implementation for city services
• Voted with Council majority to keep San Mateo’s downtown pedestrian mall two blocks long and invest in greater amenities and pedestrian safety measures, transforming it into a new city treasure
• Adopted San Mateo’s Economic Development Work Plan(https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/87/Economic-Development) (https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/87/Economic-Development)aimed at bringing city resources to help small businesses in and out of Downtown and strengthen business districts that fortify the local economy
• Supported San Mateo’s regional retail task force partnership, which has resulted in a 16% reduction (https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/DocumentCenter/View/100742/010726--Daly-City-San-Bruno-and-San-Mateo-Police-Departments-Report-Significant-Success-with-Organized-Retail-Theft-ORT-Program#:~:text=The%20suspect%20was%20arrested%20and,taken%2C%20269%20were%20successfully%20returned.)in retail thefts in San Mateo in 2025
• Traffic signal improvements to save lives (pedestrian safety)
• Worked with CORA (https://www.corasupport.org/)(Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse) to create greater domestic violence advocacy and supported the partnership between CORA and the SMPD
