MEET ADAM

RAISED IN SAN MATEO
I grew up in San Mateo and had a great childhood here. My family moved to the Shoreview neighborhood in 1995. I attended Horrall (LEAD) Elementary, Bayside Middle School, Aragon High and the College of San Mateo.

While in high school, I worked at Gator Games, a local business in District 5. I grew up enjoying San Mateo's parks and recreational programs and worked at the City of San Mateo's Parks and Recreation Department while in college.
I have spent the last 3 years on City Council and since January 2026, I have served as Mayor. My ties to our community run deep, and I am honored to answer the call to serve on the San Mateo City Council.
CANCER SURVIVOR
Out of the blue, I was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2019. I resigned from my appointed positions when my doctor couldn't guarantee when or whether I'd be well again.
Luckily, I had a good job and health care. The treatment worked and I entered remission and fully recovered. At that time, I resolved to rededicate my life to public service.

CITYWIDE LEADERSHIP
As Councilmember, Deputy Mayor and now Mayor of San Mateo, I’ve advanced policies that prioritize the needs of our community. I’ve worked hard to address climate change on a citywide level, build more housing, and invest in public services and public safety. I’ve proven I can get things done.

We’ve accomplished a lot together in the last few years. We approved the city’s first stormwater utility, investing millions of dollars to prepare us for future storms. I helped bridge a divided City Council toward consensus support for our city’s 2040 General Plan Update and Measure T, helping us plan more affordable housing and smart growth while preserving our existing neighborhoods and open space. And I advocated to make the most of a city Sustainable Building Strategy that will make our existing buildings cleaner, greener and safer in cost-effective ways.

With years of expertise and citywide policy experience addressing constituent concerns toward community goals, I’m the only candidate in District 5 ready to serve on Day One. I would be honored to continue that work: let's continue building a sustainable future together!
